Reading can be very important to a child’s development The Guardian shared an article. Benefits of Bedtime Reading that said “Apart from helping their reading, sharing a bedtime story with a child promotes their motor skills, through learning to turn the pages, and their memory. It also improves their emotional and social development.”

Podcasts and audiobooks are becoming ever more popular with families, as broadcasters extend their reach to younger audiences. Through the widespread use of digital devices podcasts and audiobooks have become accessible with the touch of a finger.


Podcasts can be downloaded to most digital devices, to allow them to be enjoyed in the car, anywhere around the house or out and about.

Audiobooks have seen an increase in sales over the last few years due to their ease of accessibility. “According to an article in The Telegraph, “Statistics gathered by the Publishers Association show that British readers spent £10million on audiobooks last year [2014], a 25 per cent rise from the amount invested in the genre in 2013."(figures taken from The Telegraph)
