Tired parents in Shropshire are about to receive sleep help thanks to an innovative project taking place across the regions
The Children's Sleep Charity have been supported by a grant from Children In Need to pilot sleep workshops aimed specifically at children with ADHD and their families in Shropshire.
It is estimated that around 40% of children will experience sleep problems at some point during their childhood with this figure rising to 86% for children with additional needs. It is well documented that sleep deprivation can cause a wide range of difficulties for both parent and child including lowering of the immune system, behavioural issues and underachievement in education.
Vicki Dawson is the Founder of the Children’s Sleep Charity. She said, "The charity supports all families to get a better night’s sleep. We do receive a high number of requests for support from families of children with ADHD and are keen to explore ways that we can support them more effectively. This pilot project has provided us with the opportunity to consult with families in order to develop a package of support to meet their needs."
The Children's Sleep Charity would love to have input from older children/ young adults with ADHD about their experiences regarding sleep problems or sleeping tips. The survey is completely anonymous and it would provide absolutely vital input into our steering group. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CDHVLHL
